Summer is quickly flying by…
I only have two weeks left before I embark upon the biggest, and perhaps most important, journey of my life. I can scarcely fathom the idea that college will start in merely two weeks. Enthusiastically preparing for college life, I have been really busy and neglected posting according to my original goal (at least twice every week).
Today, I logged on to WordPress to find a shockingly pleasant surprise. One of my readers, someone whose blog I am in love with, nominated me for the “Very Inspiring Blogger Award”. Thank you, Rinth, for the wonder nomination.
First of all, congratulations to Rinth’s blog My Elegantly Cluttered Chamber for getting this award. She most certainly deserves it, and I’m not really sure if I deserve it. I’ve only been blogging for less than a month. I must say, though, this is a great honor to include in my tenth post! (I reached double digits, yay!)
So, as part of the rules, I have to share seven facts about myself, so here goes…
- My birthday is on Cinco de Mayo!
- I have a bucket list of more than one hundred things and it is continuously expanding.
- My favorite numbers are five, seven, fifteen, and seventeen (all for different reasons).
- I have a passion for languages. I aim to fluently speak five languages by 2015 (Bengali, Hindi, English, Spanish, and French).
- I started working today to diminish and hopefully eventually eradicate world hunger (sounds really ambitious) through a program called Free Rice, which is sponsored by World Food Programme of the United Nations. Users answer trivial questions on the site, and for every right answer, 10 grains of rice is donated to the WFP. I just created a group called Hopeful Helpers, and I urge all of you to join me in this noble cause: http://freerice.com/content-group/hopeful-helpers
- My favorite color is orange.
- I absolutely love music! Every day, I listen to a variety of music for about five hours or so. Right now, I am listening to Feel So Close by Calvin Harris; it’s a great song, what can I say? Hindi, English, and Bengali music are my favorites. I have tons of favorite artists, but my most favorite artists are A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigaam, Lata Mangeshkar, K.K (Hindi), Kishore Kumar, Habib, Arfin Rumey, Nancy (Bengali), and Maroon 5, Green Day, The Beatles, Coldplay, Eminem (English).
Also, I am supposed to nominate fifteen other bloggers for the Very Inspiring Blogger award. These are the bloggers who inspire me every time I go on their blogs. Rinth is actually one of the top ones, but I don’t think I can list her blog again. So, here you go! Give these a shot. You won’t regret it.

Fellow Inspiring Bloggers, do not forget the rules for the award. The first rule is to link back to the blog that nominated you. Then, post seven facts about yourself. Also, nominate fifteen bloggers that inspire you. And finally, post a picture of the award–which is below. See ya!

You’re welcome… and thank you, I’m flattered ^_^.
Hindi? That’s interesting… how are you going to learn to speak it fluently? I mean are you taking courses or something? Cuz usually I think most of us who have origins in those parts of the world learn Hindi through Bollywood, but I’d still never dare to speak it because I barely understand how their grammar works.
Yeah I can see you’re flattered. Your eyes have moved way beyond….
Hahahahah lol!
Hahaha
Well, I initially became interested in Hindi through Bollywood (no surprise). Then, I realized how useful knowing Hindi can be especially with such an already huge and ever growing population that speaks it. I do have plans on taking formal courses in college, but for now, I’m focusing on French. I have lots of Indian friends whose first language is Hindi, so I plan on learning from conversing with them (frankly the best way to learn any language).
Yeah, I have the vocabulary in my bag; I just have to learn the grammar, and I’m working on it
Well best of luck
. I used to know French. Started with it at sixth grade and continued till second grade in high school I think. But I can barely say a full sentence now lol. It’s a shame really… but hey at least I can say; I once knew French
!
Thanks
I took French for two years in high school, but the course was very basic, so I only know the basics. But, college level French is guaranteed to be more rigorous, so I should be getting fluent at it
Yeah. The key is to keep practicing… and reading books
.
I agree
By the way, Swedish DJs are pretty cool! Haha, I’ve been exploring a bit of electronic music lately. It was interesting to see that the top DJs worldwide are mostly all Swedish. You’re probably not into electronic music (I wasn’t until very recently), but just wanted to let you know
Ah… yeah I know. And yes you’re right I’m not into that sort of music. Swedes are pretty good at the whole studio thing as well… I think there are many top lyricists and producers from Sweden as well.
Yeah, definitely! European music is cool. There was actually a Swedish DJ, Alesso, who had a concert at my college.. I missed it because I was on vacation :/
Thanks for nominating me!
I’ll go ahead and follow the rules but I’m not sure if I can nominate fifteen other blogs.
You’re very welcome, Sajib
I’m new to this, but I guess it’s okay if you can’t nominate other blogs, haha.
Oh hey you have a blog. But I enjoy this post a lot and now know some random facts about you! See you in a month
Hi Jen! Yes, I do have a blog!
Thanks, and I’ll be posting soon! See you in a month!
